Mphatlalatsane Eagles FC finished as runners-up of the 2026 Vodacom Cup after an exciting tournament at Phuthaditjhaba Park Sports Ground on 8 July 2026.

The tournament brought together Mphatlalatsane Eagles, Junior Madrid, Junior Stars, Makhalaneng Ambassadors and Innocentus for a day of competitive football and an opportunity to compete for the Vodacom Cup.

The Eagles began their campaign in the preliminary round against Innocentus.

It was a closely contested opening encounter, but our boys did enough to secure a 2–1 victory, booking their place in the semi-finals.

Waiting for us in the semi-final were Makhalaneng Ambassadors. The Eagles produced another strong performance, recording a convincing 2–0 victory and securing a place in the tournament final.

The final saw Mphatlalatsane Eagles come up against Junior Stars.

With the trophy on the line, both teams battled throughout the match, and neither side could separate itself from the other. At the end of regulation time, the score stood at 1–1, meaning the Vodacom Cup would be decided from the penalty spot.

Unfortunately, the penalty shootout did not go our way.

The Eagles finished the tournament in second place, receiving silver medals as Vodacom Cup runners-up.

Although falling at the final hurdle is always difficult, our journey through the tournament gave us plenty to be proud of: two victories, a place in the final and another podium finish for Mphatlalatsane Eagles FC.
